Hi there! My name is Annie Murrell, and I’ve lived in Portland for about three years, moving from Ashland, Oregon in the fall of 2022. I’ve walked dogs and taken care of pets professionally in PDX for almost as long as I’ve lived here, but taking care of pets has been a part of my life since childhood. Since then, I’ve found so much joy and fulfillment in taking care of people’s pets that I decided to start my own company! When I’m not spending time with pets, you can find me bouldering, camping, and making art of all kinds.
I am licensed, bonded, and insured, and I have a certification in pet first aid. My absolute favorite kind of pets to work with are rescues, but I love all kinds of dogs and cats, and I pride myself in my patience, compassion, and discipline when working with all animals, from show dogs to shelter pets.
I generally provide service to West Portland, but if you live outside of this area, please contact me via phone or email, and I may still be able to make something work, especially if you’re just looking for an overnight pet sitter.
First Time Here?
For new potential clients, I like to schedule a meet and greet appointment with you and your pets. I’ll meet you and your pet at your home, and we’ll walk through your pet’s needs. We get to see how your pet and I get along, and I get to know your pet’s home, needs, and routines. Ultimately, I want us both to make sure that I am a good fit to take care of your pet! Meet and greets generally last around 30 to 45 minutes. The $5 charge covers transportation and any potential parking fees.
What a basic walk appointment entails: This is a great option if your dog is friendly with other pups on-leash and you have no preferences for walk location.
When I arrive at your home, I will suit up your dog and walk them for at least the scheduled time. Your dog may be walked alone or with other dogs in their neighborhood, other neighborhoods, or sometimes even a park with dog-friendly hiking trails! If you would like to request a solo walk, an adventure walk to a local hiking trail, or if you have more than one dog, please see the Extras section. When we return, I’ll make sure they have fresh water and dole out treats or food as instructed! You will receive an appointment report via email after each appointment is completed.
I will take care of food, litter, and water needs and use the remaining time for cuddling, playtime, or whatever else your cat may need.

What an overnight stay means: I will arrive at your home between 4 and 6pm on the first night of booking and give your dog an initial potty break. An overnight stay includes a 30-minute walk at a time of your choice; for a longer walk, please see add-on options above. I will feed your dog at their usual dinner time and provide cuddles, playtime, potty breaks, and general company as needed. In the morning, I will feed them at their usual time and give them more potty break opportunities as needed. For first-time clients, we’ll talk through any more specific routines and needs during our meet and greet visit. My ultimate goal is to keep your pet or pets’ schedule as consistent as possible while you’re away!
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy for walk and cat visit appointments. If plans change, please reach out to me via email annie@anniewalksaround.com to cancel any appointments you no longer need at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled time. If you are unable to do so or if you have to cancel within the 24 hour window, you will be charged the full amount for the scheduled walk or cat visit appointment.
For cancelling overnight stays, please contact me via email within one week of the first scheduled night for the stay, or you will be charged for half of the total scheduled stay.
I use a software called Time to Pet, which handles scheduling and invoices. You can request appointments and set up automatic payments through their website or mobile app. You can also request appointments via email at annie@anniewalksaround.com. I am more than happy to help with initial setup of your client profile if needed!
Yes! Clients who opt to pay via cash or check will receive a $2 discount per scheduled appointment.
